Chris Garvin
BIO
Chris Garvin is an accomplished architect and active voice in the sustainable design community. Currently Chris drives district scale performance to achieve Google’s ambitious sustainability goals and create healthy resilient communities in the South Bay. Since moving to New York in 1998, he has specialized in environmental architecture and materials research, while serving on numerous advisory boards and in organizations that advocate for sustainability in design. In 2006, Chris joined Terrapin Bright Green, a strategic sustainability consulting firm dedicated to the rapid transformation of our built environment to create a healthy and sustainable world. Chris served as the managing partner and project lead for many of Terrapin’s consulting engagements until departing in 2017. Complementing his work, Chris lectures frequently on sustainable design and has taught at the Pratt Institute’s Center for Professional Practice since 2002. He also advises several organizations on sustainability issues, including the National Building Museum, Urban Green Council, and the New York Academy of Sciences. Chris has a deep interest in ecological systems, climate mitigation, biomimicry, and resiliency.
