We are currently certifying under CI 4.1, and I would like to gain a deeper understanding of the requirements for long-term storage of bikes located outside of the building. I came across an intention to protect the bikes from rain and snow, but the LEED reference guide does not provide specific guidance on what the long-term storage should entail. Can anyone provide additional information or suggestions on this matter? I would greatly appreciate any leads or insights.

as far as I am aware, long-term storage just needs to be covered from the elements and meet the 'walking distance' requirements.
never been required to provide more than 'covered' by GBCI.

I have another question about this. LEED NC v4.1 defines "long-term bicycle storage bicycle parking ... covered to protect bicycles from rain and snow." LEED CI v4.1 says "Locate the space in a building..." and "Indoor storage is acceptable as long as it meets the walking distance requirements". Is there an intent for LEED NC and LEED CI to be different? I have typicaly put the long term storage for NC projects inside the building, but am now wondering if I can just make it a covered area outside? For LEED CI projects, is there an option to make it a covered outside space, or do I need to make space in the building? Any insight would be helpful...
