USGBC is translating the LEED v4 rating systems to Chinese, Portuguese, and Spanish, and they passed us an advance copy to get your feedback!
Here are the drafts for the Spanish translation:
- LEED v4 BD&C Rating System - Draft Spanish Translation
- LEED v4 EBOM Rating System - Draft Spanish Translation
- LEED v4 ID&C Rating System - Draft Spanish Translation
Please post your comments here: does this look useful? Do you have any feedback? What tools would you like to see to make LEED more accessible in your location?
Note: the formatting of these documents when complete will look much like the English-language rating systems. These drafts that we are sharing are formatted to enable translation—they are not that easy to read!
Please post your comments below, and we'll share them with USGBC.
Correction: I previously stated that these were reference guide translations; they are actually translations of the rating system language.

This is a huge step forward for the adoption of LEED rating systems in Latin America and other spanish-sepaking countries. I would like to congratulate USGBC for this effort, and LEEDUser for making it available. My only concern is that we only have one week to comment. Anyway, a big Gracias!

What do the different colors (green, grey, etc.) in the cells mean?

Carlos, I believe it is related to the translation process and the colors refer to specific elements that are repeated in some way in the document.

This is very helpful and useful! Do you actually want input in the specific document - I can do track changes and provide very specific input on the actual translation to Spanish.

Alicia, absolutely—it's USGBC that wants the input, not me, but I will pass it to them. Since the document is so large it may be helpful to indicate which lines you have comments on, in a separate document. You can email it to me via LEEDuser.

Tristan,
We have reviewed the Spanish versions of LEED BDC, EBOM and IDC and It is an excellent start. Although, there are several words in Spanish that do not reflect the correct technical translation. We highly recommend a detailed review of each credit, because there are some words in Spanish with different meaning between let’s say Mexico and other Latin American countries.

Alejandro, I will pass your feedback on to USGBC. Do you have any specific issues you would be able to point out? All—the deadline for reviewing this has been extended to Oct. 31.

Tristan,
I concur with Alejandro. There are several, perhaps too many, to list in a comment box. By way of example:
Line #1736: Requirements can be "requisitos" or "requerimientos".
Line #1789 : Warehouse & Distribution centers could be "bodegas y centros de distribucion"
Again, it is a very good start, but there will be a need for some iterations.

Tristan,
We think it would be much better, and we suggest if some of us here outside LEEDuser (who wants to join this translation effort??) help. Once everyone commits and gets a category, we will reply back to you guys, but not on 10/31. We will need at least 2 weeks, and then we will have the master Spanish version and go from there.
Any volunteers??
