Do you have any definite reason to think they're not one and the same?
What specific prereqs are you finding this with? Seems to me that this number is preloaded onto the credit forms. For example, see the # shown on this screen capture from WEc1.

I don't have a definite reason I was just double checking myself because they used different language. For example on the offline calculator for EAc1 EBOM 2009 Case 2 calculator they request the project registration number.
