Hi,
We are working on certifying a two builiding project with LEED CS. These buildings share a common project boundary and parking areas. They are part of the same project and were designed by the same design team, are being constructed by the same contractor, etc... So, we were filling up the project summary details form in LEED online and the first question is "Number of buildings attempting certification as part of this LEED Application". We wrote 2, and a message appeared telling us to "Please register each building separately". What to do? Should we consider both buildings as one because they are part of the same project? Should we prepare 2 different aplications and apply both buildings separately?

Diego,
You will find all the answers in "2010 LEED AGMBC" (2010 LEED Application Guide for Multiple Buildings and On-Campus Building Projects). Part 1 of this guide contains guidance to help project teams certify projects individually on the same site on either a new or existing campus where is one owner or common property management and control. You will have to register each building separately and prepare 2 different applications. Some credits and prerequisites may be considered as campus credits (commom for both buildings) and be submitted only once for the "master site". You will also need to use the "block" management tool for multiple projects. Don't forget to see the special fees for AGMBC projects. I also recommend that you check all the MPRs, specially the ones related to the project boundary. I hope this help.

Our doubt is that this is building with two towers, and it is located in the same site boundary, we believe this could be a problem for MPR 3, sharing underground parking and several specifications, and since splitting the projects would mean more time and money, we'd like to know what options we have, do you think we have to apply separately?

Diego, I agree with Daniel's analysis that you'll have to apply separately. Have you read up on the guide he mentioned? You'll find the link to it above.I would not be concerned about MPR#3. Read the MPR Supplemental Guidance document for more information how to apportion the site boundary.

Thanks for your help Tristan. I believe we will apply separately for this project. Nonetheless, after revising the "2010 LEED AGMBC", it speaks about the upcoming part 2 which will will contain guidance to help project teams certify multiple projects with a single certification. Do you have any idea when will this come out?

I've heard from USGBC that AGMBC Part II is expected in late May, although that could easily slip a bit. We'll be watching for it and let our members know as soon as it hits.
