LED Temp Jobsite Lighting

I am very interested to understand the deployment of LED temp jobsite lighting on a national level.  I think this all goes back to the low emitting jobsite.

1. Does your firm utilize temp jobsite lighting on your projects?

2. Is this every project or a percentage of projects?

3. In your state or area is it prevalent, one-off, or unknown?

4.  Who carries the LED temp jobsite lighting in your scenarios? The electrician?

Thanks for your responses.

Hi Patricia, 1. yes, mostly.   2. not yet required on all projects but we are working on it. 3. Anecdotally becoming more prevalent.  hazardous clean up and replacement of CFL lamps in temp stringers vs LED lamps in temp stringers is making LED more attractive in terms of cost and service life.  The high bay / high output bulbs are mostly still legacy lighting equipment and the LED high bay lighting costs have not come down in price similar to LED screw base bulbs. 4. yes, the electrician. This is definitely an area that standard requirements (i.e. all LED temp lighting required) would make it more economical for the electrician to buy the LED temp lighting since they would be required to use it on all projects, regardless of CM.

Turner pushes LEDs for all projects but it is not a requirement (yet). Different areas of the country and staff with a "traditional" (this is the way we've always done it) mindset can be a harder sell. There is also the knee jerk "it costs to much" response which we have to refute with facts and lifecycle ROI. But it is getting broader adoption as subs get smart and we get smart. After thinking about all the ways to skin this cat, we decided to simply spec LEDs and "let the electrical sub figure it out." This has worked well as the subs see it to be in their interest as well. I love this question. I did a deep dive into it 6+ years ago, when LEDs for jobsite lighting were a new thing. Obviously the technology has evolved a lot this since then, but I think that the interviews that Pete Sampras did of his electrical subs are still interesting in terms of who provides what when it comes to lighting a jobsite. A summary of the interviews is here: https://www.buildinggreen.com/blog/leds-incandescents-whos-using-what-jobsite-lighting You can see the full interview responses, with names removed, in the attached PDF.  And the product review, while dated now, has some eye-opening estimates of the energy savings from moving to more efficient lighting on a large job.  Also--just realizing that I never introduced myself on this forum! For those who don't know my, I'm president of BuildingGreen, your host here. So glad to have you!

Is anyone looking at how LED site lighting affects the nocturnal patterns of wildlife and researching optimal color temperature options?
