We would like to add the architects JUST certification for an innovation point, but it requires us to open to update. I want to confirm there is a precedent for achieving an ID point for the JUST certification, and double check what we already submitted will not be cllaenged. This project started several years ago. We were awarded an exemplary performance point for Reduced Parking Footprint for no additoinal parking, and an innovation point for LED low mercury lighting. This is a public project that requires LEED Gold certification, and we are right on the threshold. I appreciate the help determining if this is worth doing, or if it presents a risk.

Where is the project in the review and certification timeline? I am confused by the remark about having to "reopen" something - the credit?

It sounds like you have an ID point awarded, but want to change the strategy you're using, is that right?
In that case I would not delete any of the previous strategy documentation and just change the strategy in the form. And include a narrative saying you have selected a new strategy but would like to fall back on the existing point if the new one is denied.
If you're going into construction prelim, you should be fine to have the prelim round of review on the JUST strategy and then, if it doesn't work, you can revert to the original strategy in the final review and have them mark it awarded. If you're going into construction final, it might get tricky if GBCI wants you to have the right strategy listed on the form or something. In either case, you've earned the point and they're not going to knock you out of Gold for this - the risk would be more that you might need to do some extra back and forth with GBCI outside the formal review process to explain and get everything showing up correctly.

Summer - If the architect has a JUST certification (which is awesome!), I'd point you to the Pilot Credit "Social Equity within the project team." The Just label is specifically noted in this credit. Pilot Credits can be used as Innovation points. I'm guessing your project is not v4, so I'd check the applicability to the system it is pursuing. But in the end, I have a hard time imaging the USGBC denying the Pilot Credit to any version of LEED, so you are probably fine with whatever version.

The project has gone through the complete design review, and are finalizing our LEED Construction Review (preliminary review is compelete). It is LEEDv4, and in order to add not change an innovation point it is making us reopen for update the whole LEED ID credit, which already has 2 points awarded from the LEED Design Review. Do you still think the pilot is the best path, and is that still within the Innovation credit that would require us to reopen the ID credits for udate? We are worried about losing our current 2 points. I appreciate your insights!

Here's what to do:
Register for the Social Equity in Project Team Pilot Credit and follow all of the instructions, including filling out the survey.
In LEED Online, open the IN credit so it's editable again and add this to the LEED Online form. Upload your documentation (confirmation of registration, survey, proof of compliance), and mark complete again (Green checkmark). Do not delete or overwrite anything that has been reviewed and approved already, just ADD new. You would do this if you had Construction Phase only IN credits as well. It's very common practice, and the reviewers know how to handle it. They will not re-review what has already been reviewed and approved. The points you earned are safe.
