Rebecca Aarons-Sydnor serves SDC as a Project Director. In her role
she provides leadership to teams seeking integration of sustainable design
concepts for interiors and whole building design and construction projects.
She also develops and delivers trainings and presentations on certifi cation
systems including LEED, the International Green Construction Code, green
product labeling and specifi cations, and associated building industry
standards. Additionally, Rebecca serves as a Reviewer under SDC’s LEED
Project Certifi cation Review Contract with GBCI and was a founding Board
member of the James River Green Building Council, now part of the USGBC
Greater Virginia Chapter.
Throughout her architectural career spanning 20+ years, Rebecca has gained
technical knowledge through a variety of project types in the commercial,
institutional, offi ce and healthcare sectors. As a stalwart supporter of the
integral approach to design, she has displayed eff ective leadership of project
teams through collaboration. That approach has led to success as a green
Rebecca’s notable achievements include Virginia’s fi rst LEED Platinum
certifi cation, Virginia Commonwealth University’s Walter L. Rice Education
Building; the Virginia Department of General Services 9th Street Offi ce
Building Renovation LEED Gold certifi cation; the US EPA Region 10
Headquarters in Seattle, WA LEED-CI Gold certifi cation, and the Stone
Brewing East Coast Headquarters LEED certifi cation.
