Hi all,
Our team is interested in the new health and well-being pathway of this credit and was wondering if others have taken it on? If so, would you be willing to share an example of what was submitted for documentation and/or your experience integrating this framework?
Beginning in pre-design and continuing throughout the design phases, use the following steps to inform the design and construction documents:
- Establish health goals. Set clear and specific goals to promote the health of core groups, including:
- Building occupants and users
- Surrounding community
- Supply chain
Develop a statement of health goals for each population, including a summary of how this health goal relates to the highest priority health need for each population.
- Prioritize design strategies. Select specific design and/or programming strategies to address the project’s health goals. This could be accomplished by holding a stand-alone “health charrette” or by integrating health considerations into an existing green charrette.
- Anticipate outcomes. Identify expected impacts on population health behaviors and outcomes associated with the project’s prioritized design strategies
Thank you in advance!

Kelli, it's on my To Do list to send a query to a LEED Coach about this item. The scope seems quite broad - hard to know what exactly they intend. If I get an answer before you, I'll post.

Hello, Kelli, Martha,
I'm now exploring this topic within the 5 of Integrative Process. I'm curious if either of you carried it through, and/or received valuable feedback from USGBC on the breadth of scope. I look forward to hearing any lessons learned!

Hi Maria,
We have not yet fully documented/submitted this credit but are thinking of compiling documentation consisting of a tracking matrix (possibly to add as an appendix item to the integrative process letter) listing each health goal and then the corresponding design strategies addressing each goal. The health goals came out of conversations at the early sustainability workshop.
Hopefully we'll have an update on this approach next year following the project's design review submission - more to come!
