Hazardous materials

Hi, I have a question regarding hazardous materials, at one project the review team calculated the combustible materials for energy recovery as hazardous materials and tehrefore I wonder if this is the right way. Thanks in advance! /Tanja

Tanja, I don't see how any combustible material could be considered a hazardous material for the purposes of this credit. It rewards incineration and waste-to-energy, which is not the intent of this credit. I understand Europe has a different view of waste-to-energy than the U.S., but that aside, the credit requirements are clear.

Absolute. I understand the requirements within the credit and agree :) that Europe and the U.S have a different view of waste-to-energy. That is why I wonder how a review team can say that combustible waste should be seen as hazardous materials. It really confuses me...

Tanja, it's quite possible the review team made a mistake—it happens! ;)I would contact GBCI and point out that this review comment doesn't make sense, and see what they say.
