An April 16 2013 article on the USGBC website, regarding multiple building certification, mentions "Group Certification, which allows project teams with separate buildings that are substantially similar to certify as one project that shares a single certification."
I am unable to find any other reference to the need for buildings in a group to be "substantially similar".
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of this requirement?

Deborah, I found the article you are referring to here.It looks to me like Group Certification is a distinct certification path from Campus certification. You can certify a group of buildings under one LEED project, with this approach, which is different from the Campus approach in which distinct buildings use shared attributes of the campus to contribute to their individual LEED certifications.In terms of better understanding the meaning of "substantially similar," maybe you could give an example of what you're working with.
