Hi there LEED community, Our project team has just wrapped the performance period, and we are in the process of gathering documents and plan to submit our application in one week. This ACP made our project possible. We have an unusual building that could not achieve a “69” for a variety of reasons. Though new, the building was built for growth; we plan to be in this building for at least 50 years. Also, being a utility, this building was also designed to accommodate the necessary operations for a large storm. It can feed and sleep hundreds more than use it regularly – great for power restoration, but it does mean extra heated and cooled space. These are only a couple of reasons why a “69” is out of reach. But because we were able to implement LEED fully, we have recycled the equivalent of about 60 standard dump trucks full of waste and replaced 100 gallons of conventional cleaner with safe, green cleaning chemicals. These are only a couple of the stats. Most important may be that since 2007 (when we first looked at LEED) we have dropped over 1.7 million kWh. That’s 1,571 tons of Co2 avoided, or the annual electricity use of over 200 homes. That’s great progress. And we aren’t through improving, especially with EBOM recertification as an incentive. So far, the experience with this ACP has been wonderful. It is challenging enough to set a high bar for continual performance, but not too high as to discourage likely thousands of would-be LEED project teams. We’ll let you all know how the review process goes. We have high hopes for a smooth review of this PR because of the genuine hard work, careful documentation, and solid results we have produced.
