NC-v4 EQp1:Minimum indoor air quality performance

Dwelling Units/Residential definition for ventilation

Can anyone provide me with a definition or point me towards how LEED v4 defines a dwelling unit? I have a dormitory project and am trying to interpret the Resi Only requirements for v4. As an example, if the residential units where the students have a common room and a bed room but no combustible equipment, it doesn't make sense to install CO monitors.

I am looking for the same answer but for hotel rooms - are these considered residential by LEED v.4?

See p. 8 of ASHRAE 90.1-2010 for the definition of dwelling unit and p. 15 for the definition of residential. The dwelling units are a particular kind of residential space.

Per ASHRAE 90.1-2010, residential: spaces in buildings used primarily for living and sleeping. Residential spaces include, but are not limited to,
dwelling units, hotel/motel guest rooms, dormitories, nursing homes, patient rooms in hospitals, lodging houses, fraternity/sorority houses, hostels, prisons, and fire stations. See page 17. Note that there are different economizer requirements, lighting controls requirements, etc for hotel/motel, as compared to dormitories, multifamily, etc.

I thought that "RESIDENTIAL ONLY" in pale green border means Residential Projects such as Homes, Multi-family Midrise and Multi-family Highrise under rating system, and hotel is Hospitality Project. If ASHRAE 90.1 word definition applies to this LEED requirement as well, clear ruling how far it rules is needed. Now I should wonder if a hotel project can use option 2 Compartmentalization of Smoking Areas in EQ prerequisite ETS, that is marked "RESIDENTIAL ONLY". It past a while since Sara posted her comment here, but I'm very interested in if she got an answer.
