Currently we are working in a LEED project which we are pursuing this pilot credit of Designing with Nature, and we are wondering if natural wood slats ceilings on main indoor common areas could be one of the five strategies?
We understand that these elements could be a connection with nature as textured materials, to create a distinct sense of place through natural materials.

Based on the research I've done for a project pursuing this credit, I would say that it would meet the intent of the Material Connection with Nature (within Natural Analogues). I found this website to be extremely helpful in our journey through this Pilot Credit. " The objective of the Material Connection with Nature pattern is to explore the characteristics and quantities of natural materials optimal for engendering positive cognitive or physiological responses".

Decor:
Accent details (natural wood grains; leather; stone, fossil textures; bamboo, rattan, dried grasses)
Interior surfaces (veneer, countertops)
Woodwork, stonework
Natural color palette, particularly greens
