Demolition of Interior Wall

The reference guide states that if a wall is demolished and not replaced, it can be excluded from the calculations. Please define 'REPLACED' and 'NOT REPLACED'... We are demolishing a wall and adding a new wall in a new location 5 feet away because the existing wall did not define the space as we needed it to. Are we "replacing" the existing wall? What are the parameters around 'REPLACE'?

Hmmm, it sounds like a new wall to me, not a replacement for the old wall.I am basing my answer on common sense mixed with a lot of years of LEED experience, not a rigorous defiintion of "replaced," which to my knowledge USGBC has not provided.

How is 'reconstructed wall' being defined? For our project, we are to demo an existing gyp. bd. wall, and replacing it with a gyp. bd. wall of different stud size, in addition to a CMU wall against it. Basically, the wall does not match in material or construction, but matches in location. Would this be considered a 'reconstructed wall?'
