CI-2009 SSc1:Site Selection

Cooling Tower

Our CI client owns the building they're in and are looking for additional water savings, beyond the water savings as outlined in LEED CI WEc1. They have found a new cooling tower system that aims to reduce cooling tower water, not by recycling it, but by needing substantially less in the first place. This could account for tremendous water savings, but again, not the water reduction strategies outlined in WEc1. Would this new building system account for a potential point in Option 12, WEc1? For an entire building water reduction strategy?

Yes, I think it's viable there. Reference the LEED v4 cooling tower credit language for guidance on what you should aim for and how to document it.
