Can a certificate of occupancy be obtained without building commissioning in New York State? I am working in a project for this condo in Brooklyn and turns out the building was never commissioning and has been operating without a certificate of occupancy for about three years now. Any advice?

Paulina, it sounds like your question is about NYS (and possibley NYC) laws and codes, which I couldn't comment on (and isn't typically a topic addressed on this forum). From a LEED and green building perspective, however, I would advise you to commission the building. LEED credits like LEED-EBOM EAc2 provide a pathway for commissioning existing buildings, and it is very common to identify cost-effective efficiency measures.

Hi Tristan, yes, indeed. I have advised the management to commission (or in this case retro-commission the building. It is going to be needed anyway in order to comply with law 87. Thank you for you input!
