I received LEED review comments for a commercial office space that the said "adhesive product Greenguard Gold certificate indicates the Classroom Exposure Scenario was used to determine compliance, but the Classroom Environment does not appear to be applicable to the project."
The GGG certificate lists CDPH v1.2 2017 using an OFFICE and Classroom Environment. Product tested in accordance with UL 2821 test method to show compliance to emission limits on UL 2818, Section 7.1 and 7.2.
I realize I am using v1.2 instead of v1.1, but I am not sure that was the issue. Can someone explain to me why this product certificate wouldn't be compliant?

Hello Patricia,
I think its not issue of using v1.2 or v1.1, as per now both are acceptable. If you have noticed in the GREENGUARD Certificate of Compliance it states using a classroom enviornment, or a office environment or both for determing compliance.
The certificate stating - "Building products and interior finishes are determined compliant in accordance with California Department of Public Health (CDPH) gStandard Method V1.2-2017 using a Classroom Environment." may not comply for office environment. I guess thats what the reviewer is pointing.

Hi All,
I posted this question to our assigned LEED coach on a project and here is the response I received:
Question: Greenguard Gold certification is awarded to products tested under CDPH std method v1.1 2010 or higher.
Could you please confirm the products that have Greenguard Gold certification do comply with VOC emission requirements per LEED v4.1?
GBCI Response: Yes. v4.1 credit substitutions can use compliant Greenguard Gold certificates to demonstrate compliance.
The products can be tested under the older CDPH standard method v1.1 2010 if they are a v4 project.
Note that projects registered under the v4.1 rating system must be tested according to CDPH standard method v1.2-2017.
Question: Most of the Greenguard Gold certificate show they are tested under both classroom and office scenario.
Assuming that classroom scenario is more stringent than office, is it ok to use Greenguard Gold certificate that are tested under Classroom for our office project?
GBCI Response: That is incorrect. The 'office' scenario refers to private office.
The private office scenario is more stringent than the classroom scenario because of the smaller room size and less frequent air exchange;
therefore, the private office scenario may be used for products in classrooms but not vice versa. The CDPH standard defines the parameters of the scenarios.
Hope this helps,
Vandita
