Hi, has anyone has success with noting the carpool stalls are only used during certain hours of the day (like during typical office hours)? We have a large garage that is being used by several businesses, one being a hotel and the Owner would like to know if we could remove the "carpool" designation after 6pm, when the office tower is closed.

Sadie, this seems reasonable but is outside the LEED requirements, so I would communicate with GBCI about it.

Sadie,
Can you tell me how this turned out? I have a university client who wants to put up a sign that says "Reserved for Carpool Parking 7AM - 9:30AM, Hang Tag Required." It is for an administrative office and not for classrooms. I think it would go a long way to addressing the intent of the credit, but not sure it will fly with the review board.

Douglas, Were you able to attain LEED approval for use of this type of signage in your project? I am working on an office building where the client would like to use this verbiage as well.

Sadie & Douglas, I had a similar item come up on my office v4 BD+C CS project. GCBI noted that carpool spaces must be designated 24/7, and not be limited to certain hours of the day. Hope this is helpful on future projects.

It was rejected at first because one emergency vehicle spot had to take priority over the carpool spots. This was not totally explained in the first submittal. We did receive this credit with parking plan and a clear narrative explaining the need for the emergency vehicle and that this building and the associated parking was not for student or faculty use and was only for 9-5 administrative staff.
