EBOM-2009 MRc9:Solid Waste Management—Facility Alterations and Additions

Carpet Waste Conversion Factor and long-term volume diversion tr

I was wondering of anyone has a solid waste conversion factor for carpet (i.e. to transfer carpet weight (in tons or pounds) to density (lbs/yards3)? I was also wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to track volume diverted vs tonnage diverted over time. Our contractors are finding it much more complicate to report in a volume ration then just to report actual tonnages diverted and or land filled. Thanks for your assistance

Jubilee, you have asked a difficult question. Basically there is no conversion factor. There are far too many types of carpet construction each having a different lb/sq ft. This whole comment leads me to ask, you are you tracking in volume...weight is much easier?

Hi Jubilee, sorry if this response is a little late for your project. You're allowed to report data for MRc9 in either volume or weight, even though the form says volume. If your contractors are more comfortable with weight, that's totally fine (and more accurate than volume anyway!)

Thanks so much for your answer. Tracking weight vs volume is much easier and more accurate- glad for the clarification that it is acceptable.
