CI-v4 WEp1:Indoor water use reduction

CALGreen certification as alternate to Watersense?

Would GBCI accept a plumbing fixture that is CALGreen certified as an alternative compliance path to the Watersense requirement?

Not that I'm aware of. But ask them and let us know what you learn. They did just release a CALGreen compliance path for whole credits, but that's a bit different.

Not sure if this has been resolved as I'm finding myself facing this on some projects, but as long as the following requirements are met, it would appear that this could be met:
  1. Project is subject to and meets the minimum requirements of the 2016 California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 6 and Part 11 (Energy Code & CALGreen code) and any associated updates.
  2. Project is a nonresidential building under the authority of the California Building Standards Commission (BSC) or other appropriate jurisdictional agency, or is a residential building under the authority of the California Department of Housing & Community Development (HCD) or other appropriate jurisdictional agency
  3. CALGreen code requirements for the project are at least equivalent to the mandatory measures as adopted by the California Building Standards Commission (as defined in Title 24, Part 11, section 103 (for nonresidential), or section 104 (residential).
  4. Project is registered under a LEEDv4 BD+C or ID+C Rating System, or project is registered under a LEED 2009 rating system and is using approved LEED v4 substitutions.

Hi Allan, Based on the language in the ACP link, it appears that your project would meet the requirements of the prereq by meeting the items you have listed above. The link seems to be unclear when applied to the credit; it looks like you can attain 2 points using CALGreen, but anything above that may require additional documentation. If you find yourself above the two-point range for the credit (if pursuing), I would contact GBCI and ask what the additional requirements would be. If you do that, please share them back here, as I'm sure there will be other projects in the same situation. When you submit your documentation for the prereq, I would include a short narrative explaining exactly what your project is required to meet, and cite the link you provided above for reference. Something showing your code compliance should be included, too.
