Pilot-Credits SSpc55:Bird collision deterrence

Bird collision threat factor for unlisted materials

Hello,

1. Our project has glazing with 30% and 60% ceramic frit. The threat factor values published by American Bird Concervancy and found in LEED online, only lists threat factors for 20% and 40%  frit. How can I find out the accurate threat factor for 30% and 60% frit? Do I have to use the closest material for which the data is published? Can I average the published data to get the 30% material threat factor?

2. Also, we have areas of "shadow box construction" - meaning, a clear glazing unit with an opaque metal panel directly behind the IGU. Similar to spandrel glass, except there is no opaque film applied to the IGU.  Can this be considered opaque, or does this assembly count as transparent? If transparent, can I use a threat rating lower than for clear glass?

Thanks,

Jay

Jay - did you ever get a response to this?  We are looking at a similar approach.  Thanks.
