Pilot-Credits SSpc55:Bird collision deterrence

Bird Collision Monitoring frequency

Hello,

The bird collision deterrence credit requiers the building owner to "Develop a three-year initial monitoring plan to routinely monitor the building and site structures for bird collisions."

Are there any requirements on how often the monitoring should be done? Once a month? once every week?

Thanks,

Jay

The monitoring plan we submitted, which was approved, was for daily monitoring during the migration season.

Hi Jay, My understanding  is that there is no set frequency  but your monitoring needs to show that the frequency is sufficient / adequat. Our project has a plan and monitoring program before the LEED credit was introduced. https://news.ubc.ca/2019/04/26/for-the-love-of-birds-saving-species-at-ubc-is-a-campus-wide-initiative/ We will submit shortly and share if it was accepted.

For our monitoring plan, we also decided to use a daily inspection/monitoring with room for adjustments throughout the migration seasons.
