Hello all,
We are attempting the IO credit at the Catholic University of America by adding a lesson plan to our Principles of Environmental course to make our own biochar (a soil additive that sequesters carbon, helps with water retention, improves storm water management, and aids soil health. More info here: http://www.biochar-international.org/biochar ) by purchasing charcoal and inoculating it with our own compost. We will then spread it on our community garden planter boxes. The produce is then donated to charitable causes. Thank you in advance for any and all feedback.

Hi Patricia, unfortunately I’m not sure that the biochar piece would qualify for an IO point on it’s own. The credit typically isn’t awarded for addressing a single technology or component of sustainability. Your post is from several months back so I’d be curious to hear if you attempted the credit with the biochar lesson plan, and if so how it went.
