Hi all,
We are analyzing a project that is on a higher ed campus but serves pre-K students. While it doesn't fit the K-12 guidance, we do feel we could make a compelling argument for using Schools IF there was a good reason do so. My question is if there are actual advantages to certifying under Schools as opposed to NC... anything that we'd be doing in a new school-ish building that would give us a leg up on certain credits? I see the thresholds on Optimizing Energy are different. Does that matter? Anyone have experience with v4 Schools? Would we be best off doing NC and "borrowing" like one user commented a while back? Are this philosophical differences in the approaches? Thanks!

Hannah, they are not very different systems. There are a few Schools credits that address specific issues not addressed in NC. If anything. Schools has been slightly more rigorous on a couple requirements, though I think that's less true in v4 than it was in 2009.
Bottom line, I'd just choose the system that fits best in terms of ease, not based on philosophy or reputation.
