How is "access point" defined for this credit. Is it simply a crossing? It is a more involved distribution site? Just looking to get some more information on the credit to determine if/how we could comply.

Jonathan, I think the LEED language is purposefully vague. I don't have any specific knowledge on this credit but from general LEED experience I would say that the "access point" should be a practically usable point to onload/offload freight, not just any crossing.Have you learned more since you posted this?

Yes! I have the same question - what is an "access point"? Anyone have any clarity in the 5+ years since Jonathan posted?

I have the same question too. The Reference guide considers:
The site is within a 1-mile (1 600-meter) driving distance of an access point to an active freight rail line.
The site is served by an active freight rail spur.
In my view, it means that if a site has an active freight rail spur (a separate rail track goes into the facility to load/unload stuff) then it automatically has the access point within the facility so it automatically fulfills the first point.
What do you say?
Thanks a lot!
