Buildings that have already been certified under any version of the LEED for Existing Buildings rating system are eligible for this credit. Teams must demonstrate consistent implementation of strategies and tracking of performance data over the recertification performance period. The level of certification your project achieved previously doesn’t matter under SSc1. All four points are awarded for any level of certification, from Certified to Platinum.
It may be tempting to determine a baseline irrigation use by using the calculation methodology for Option 2 and then compare that value to the actual metered irrigation data but that is not allowed. The calculation methodology must be consistent between the baseline and installed cases.
For building types covered by Energy Star but located outside the U.S., use Case 1. Portfolio Manager proivdes a list of non-U.S. locations, but it is not complete. If the location for an international project is not listed, consult ASHRAE 90.1-2007 Appendices B and B to determine a comparable U.S. city.
If your building has high-efficiency fixtures, consider using Option 4 (some or all fixtures installed before 1993) even if your building was completed or plumbing system renovated after 1993. This is an effective way to determine whether you’re eligible to earn additional points under WEc2.
