Hello community, I'd really like any of you guys help with this So our building is a dwelling unit with multiple rooms where labour/ workers will be living each each room has access to outdoors and the door opens outdoors. The design team has added split unit AC in each room. We do know that big chillers and central HVAC systems do have controls for fresh air intake. But split unit do not . According to this prerequisite we have to provide/proof 15% fresh air intake with the space. Where as our client is not agreeing to adding a fresh air diffuser or anything mechanical, they are saying the user will have access to windows and doors and they can open it whenever they want. This is very understandable but now how to comply with this ore requisite and how to prove the adequate fresh air is still accessible to this particular space.

Hello!
Such rooms can be considered naturally ventilated spaces given that each one of it has windows (per your description). So you need to comply with section "Naturally Ventilated Spaces" of the prerequisite (I provided two variants, since I suppose that it's not historic building): meet the requirements of ASHRAE 62.1-2016 with addendum l, Sections 4, 6.4.1, 6.4.3, 6.4.4, and 6.5. OR meet the requirements of ASHRAE 62.1-2016 with addendum l, Sections 4, 6.4.2, 6.4.3, 6.4.4 and 6.5.
Also note, that you must comply at least one of three additional requirements for a naturally ventilated places. I advise you to choose between "automatic indication devices on all natural ventilation openings" or "CO2 monitors".
