Hi everyone,
For the calculation of the heat island on the roof of a building, we have an open terrace where a part of it is covered by a wooden lattice structure with parallel wooden slats.
This structure is probably in turn covered by a retractable textile. The question is, would the floor material under the timber structure (1) or the timber lattice structure (2) count for the calculation? Or in any case, the retractable textile to be installed (3)?
Thank you very much.

Hi Jose,
My gut reaction would be to report the roofing material under the structure/textile. That said, I could also see the textile being treated as an architectural shading device; the caveat is that since it's retractable, you probably shouldn't claim it since there's no guarantee it will always be open. The roofing surface seems most consistent to use.
This is such a project-specific situation, though, you'll probably want to summarize your approach and confirm it with LEED Coach to be safe. If you do, please report back here so we know how it goes.
