Radical Transparency: 2030 Reporting Results

In the run-up to Earth Day 2023, we're trying something new at VMDO: Full, public transparency on everything we know about how our portfolio is performing (or how we anticipate it performing). Here's a link to all of the details on our sixth year of reporting to the 2030 Commitment and more: https://www.vmdo.com/radical-transparency-commitment-to-2030.html

Many thanks to our SDL reviewers--y'all are the best.

A little delayed in replying to this, but I read it as soon as I got the email notification.  It was what was on my mind for our SMEPL call that afternoon. First, I love the Star Trek reference.  Picard is my captain. I now wish I had pushed harder to get approval to check the box to allow or data to be public.  Because of your post, I am going to revist the question though. Your results are very similar to ours from an average pEUI reduction and % of projects modeled. I think it is worth a conversation about how we can all push these goals along together.  We have had conversations in the SMEPL group about how to get truly integrated design on more projects, and I believe one way is to make sure like minded firms are making a point to partner together because they know what to expect and have aligned goals for the project. Thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks Michelle, your write up and approach reminded me of the quote "“When you reach for the stars, you may not quite get them, but you won't come up with a handful of mud either.” As an aside, my understanding is the MA code options are pivoting to TEDI (Thermal Energy Demand Intenisty), which (I believe) puts more focus on better core and shell design and construciton. I'm not sure if AIA 2030 is also reviewing this TEDI option or if that would provide a clearer path to reach our collective goals.

Love your blog post Michelle..! I appreciate the shout out at the end but my post from 2020 was not nearly as radical as yours was. So much respect for laying all the numbers out there, the good and the bad. Looking forward to being radiacally transparent at A'23 this year when Katie Felver and I share Mahlum's pEUI and Embodied Carbon data. Hope so see y'all there IRL.

Hey Jesse, I hope you’re up for offering a 5-minute Cliff-notes version of that session at the Wednesday evening Show and Tell. I’d love to see it. Nadav
