"Green Training" for LEED innovation credit?

Hello,

Does anyone have experience with USGBC's Green Training Pilot Credit, and/or use of an innovation credit for subcontractor training? I was going to propose training to our subs on becoming an EnviroStars Businesses (WA Green Business Program) and also tie in the Sustainable Contractor's Commitment/project goals.

Since EnviroStars isn't an accredited program, I'm not sure it will work, but thought I would ask the group if anyone's tried something like this.

Here is EnviroStars in case you're curious. Suitable for a number of sectors (including construction). Funded by local agencies and utilities, free for businesses.  http://envirostars.com/

Stephanie, I wanted to respond to this since no one else did even though you asked a month ago.  I think the fact that no one responded is probably an indication that no one has done this credit, which is not surprising.  I looked into it in the past and it seemed like it isn't feasible.  I would be interested to know if any teams anywhere have done it.  I think it needs to be much more accessible, like an informal on-the-job training for subs about green building. My recommendation would be to contact USGBC and ask if an alternative compliance path would be accepted.  I would think they might be more amenable to that if no one is doing the credit.  You could always use the generic "contact us", see if one of the consultants you work with has a good connection, or just ask someone at Greenbuild if you're going.  There may be a LEED User thread on this somewhere. Please let us know if you end up having success or a worthwhile report back.  Thanks,

Thanks, Steve. I'll check in with USGBC and report anything back I learn. Several years ago we did this credit or a credit very similar to it on a LEED v2009 project. Feel free to reach out to me if you'd like to discuss what we learned doing it. We only did it on one project and we were awarded the credit.  I can be reached at somara@choateco.com or 704-602-7224
