If a project pursues Option 2 - Waste Prevention is it required to track disposal and diversion rates of the project?

odd that GBCI would require % diversion info when waste per floor thresholds are met.

I spoke with GBCI and it is still required to track disposal and diversion rates of the project if Option #2 is pursued. Option #2 does not have a % diversion rate required, but nonetheless, it is still required to be included in the final waste report uploaded to LEED Online. Hope this helps!

Hello Dave, Regarding this credit, I was wondering if the prevention to be documented is per BUA or per site area. I believe the BUA makes more sense but still looking for calrity on this. Thanks!

the step-by-step guidance of the v4 reference guide states: Waste per area = (Total construction and demolition waste generated ) / (Project gross floor area) v4.1 also uses "project gross floor area" although it is not explictly stated in the v4.1 ref guide. be aware that v4.1 has different requirements for demolition waste and construction waste when compared to the v4 credit language. Per v4.1: Divert at least 50% of all demolition waste, if any. Generate less than 10 lbs./ft2 (50 kg/m2) of waste materials from all new construction activities. Hence demolition waste does not get included in the waste/project gross floor area calc when pursuing the v4.1 credit. Hope this helps!
