You may not have to do the calculations for each of the systems. Under LEED v4, if all or some of the systems have similar parameters, sampling of the systems is allowed. It is likely that the same sampling approach is acceptable under LEEDv4.1. Here’s a list of the parameters that must be similar for the systems to conduct a sample:
- Constant volume or variable air volume
- Single-zone or multizone
- Occupancy per unit floor area for area served by the system
- Primary space function served by the system
- Minimum outdoor air setpoints
If your systems are similar for each of the above aspects, calculations and measurements may be conducted for a minimum of 3 or 10% of the total systems (whichever is greater). See more details in the LEED v4 Reference Guide for requirements, including protocols if any of the sampled systems should fail to meet the minimum prerequisite requirements.
