Short-term bicycle storage

Hi,

In the office building where the occupants stay for 8 hours a day, is it necessary to have a short-term parking lot for bicycles? Or does it already work with the long-term parking?

Short-term can be in the same location as long-term, but the intent of short-term is to have accessible bike parking for visitors in addition to the long-term for employees. So you would need to show that someone coming to the building (e.g. for a meeting, making a delivery) can get to the long-term parking to store their bike. Could mean having signage pointing them to the parking, no locked doors to the parking, visible from the sidewalk, etc...whatever makes sense in your space.

Hi Maria, LEED v4.1 BD+C Guide (Beta) page 40 states that step-by-step guidance for credit of Bicycle Facilities to refer to the LEED v4 reference guide. LEED v4 BD+C Guide page 106 in step-by-step guidance especially step 6 states that for all rating systems other than Schools to locate short-term and long-term storage within 100 feet (30 meters) of main and functional entrances, respectively. Therefore, your office building with 8 office hours a day still require short-term storage.
