NC-v4.1 SSc4:Rainwater Management

Grey Infrastructure Devices

The LEED v4.1 guidance says that conventional grey infrastructure devices and hard runoff conveyance systems can be used as a component of LID/GI systems. What would this look like in practice for a retention pond? Would a project be able to retain a certain percentage of rainwater in a retention pond while the rest is retained through GI/LID practices?

Interested to know if retention ponds together with other LID and GIF messures will be accepted to manage 100% rainfall onsite. Have any other projects achieved this credit in this manner?

It is my understanding that ponds which are designed to infiltrate the water are considered to be Low Impact Development (LID) strategies. The pond itself is the structural means to capture the water while the method of infiltration (or reuse) is the LID strategy.
