NC-v4 WEp1:Outdoor water use reduction

Irrigation sourced by a nearby creek?

We are working on a campus site that has drawn irrigation water from a nearby creek that runs along the property line. This same irrigation will continue to be tapped as the property is redeveloped. Can this water be considered non-potable water and if so, would the project pursue Option 1 or Option 2? Thank you!

Hi Sara, Potable water is just drinkable or food-safe water that is treated to meet the safe drinking or food standards. I am guessing that water from this creek is not going to be treated such that it is drinkable, so the creek/irrigation can be considered non-potable water. Either way, because there will be some sort of irrigation, it would mean that the project would pursue option 2.  Hope this helps.
