Does a "shared lane" qualify to be included as part of a bicycle network? Here in Wichita KS they are designated by a sharrow symbol painted on the street.

Laura, I can't speak for how GBCI would review specific project circumstances, but I don't think so. The credit language and bicycle network definition really talk about "dedicated" lanes. Also note the Europe ACP: Bike Path Width in the credit language. Seems to view sharing space with cars as more of a specific exception than generally allowed.

A bicycle network a continuous network consisting of any combination of the following:
·· off-street bicycle paths or trails at least 8 feet (2.5 meters) wide for a two-way path and at least 5 feet
(1.5 meters) wide for a one-way path
·· physically designated on-street bicycle lanes at least 5 feet (1.5 meters) wide
·· designed for a target speed of 25 mph (40 km/h) or less
I think if the shared lane has a speed of less than 25 mph, then it could be part of a bicycle network. I cannot say for sure, how GBCI will interpret this and review it.

would love to see GBCI allow project teams to conduct a transportation survey shortly after occupancy, similar to the IN - Occupant Comfort Survey credit. hence all this math goes away.
better yet, would be nice to see BDC certifications run through the Arc platform...probably will never happen, but one can dream.

Thank you Bipin. That was my thought also. I'm looking for those 25 MPH streets now.
