Office Furniture and Equipment Recycling Program Seattle Public Utilities, the owner of the Operations Control Center project, operates a number of facilities in Seattle. Instead of procuring furniture and equipment separately for the OCC project and other facilities, SPU has contracts with a limited number of suppliers so that individual items can be recycled and shared between facilities. Is it likely that this program would be approved as an Innovation in Design credit?

Ruling

The applicant is presenting a potential innovation credit for an Office Furniture and Equipment Recycling Program. Furniture reuse can be applied toward MR Credit 3.3 Resource Reuse, 30% Furniture and Furnishings. An innovation credit for this will be awarded if the next incremental threshold is met, i.e. the credit calculations must demonstrate achievement of a minimum of 60% (based on cost). Please refer to the LEED-CI v2.0 Reference Guide, page 227 for more information on this. Applicable Internationally.
