Innovation Credit: Procurement of Low Carbon Construction Materials

Has anyone achieved this innovation credit yet. We are planning to use Embodied Carbon in Construction Calculator (EC3) to perform calculation for 2 building in the group project. Please share your experience on attempting this innovation credit. Is there any training materials available for - how to use EC3 Calculator? Any suggestions or recommendation would be helpful. Thank you!

Hello. Have not submitted or achieved this credit but am working to develop my understanding and application within projects. I do have project experience with EC3 and embodied carbon. Would be happy to coordinate together. By chance do you have a copy of the credit language to share? The credit library link is incorrect. Let's chat!

Is it possible to use this pilot credit for LEED CI projects with only interior finishes? Has anyone applied under LEED CI?

I don't see that it is available for TI, but I am interested in the same question.

It is not inlcuded in the Innovation library for the CI projects.
  • The following materials must be included if they are used on the project:
    • Concrete
    • Steel
    • Timber
    • Metal Framing
    • Glazing
    • Gypsum Board
    • Insulation
    • Carpet
    • Ceiling Tiles
Basically, above materials are inlcuded in the scope of anaylsis. I think highlighted are still applicable for CI. Would love to know, if it is applicable for CI??

Hi all - I am trying to understand how to use the calculations,  related to Baseline (b) and Design (a) cases.  We are working with a client that is desiging a CLT struture. Would the Baseline case assume traditional steel/concrete construction, and the Design case factors in the CLT component?  Or do both cases need to use essentiall the same materials, and we would have to somehow downsize the structure to get a 30% reduciton in Embodied Carbon? It's not clear.  Thanks,  Brian
