NC-2009 EAp2:Minimum Energy Performance

Energy sourse - pellets

Greetings,

Our project has as an energy source pellets – type agricultural crop or waste (sunflower waste).

Regarding the data entry in MEPC (Minimum Energy Performance Calculator), should we enter this energy source as “wood” since there is no “pellets” options.

The other question is related to the price of the energy source. The pellets price is different than the fuel oil (diesel) price, which will be applied to the Baseline model. The question is:

Which price should be entered in MEPC, so that the price difference to be within the required tolerance, or will it be allowed in such cases to apply different energy costs.

First make sure you check the interpretations about whether this qualifies as a renewable. There are some restrictions relative to proximity and contract term (LIs 1789 and 5332). Based on the exception to G2.4 it appears that you can have a different energy cost.
