I am wondering if existing irrigated trees on a university campus that are included in our LEED boundary need to be included in the calculations for Outdoor Water Use Reduction prerequisite/credit.  New landscaping around these existing trees will not require irrigation, but some of the existing trees are not native.  They will likely die if they are not irrigated in the summer.  I am wondering if anyone has ever seen an exception allowed for this situation.

Megan, I can't think of a rationale for an exception there, or any history of that. You could always do some irrigation for those trees, and then use reductions in other areas to make up for it and earn credit.
