It isn't specified in the credit language but it could work. For example, it could simply be given a certain valuation as an equivalency for the financial support specified in Option 2. If it is adjacent or near to the site, you could look at some hybrid approach with Option 1.

Our client, an NGO, is building a community center on one acre. They are donating 2 adjacent acres to the small town to be used as a public park. The land has been dedicated to be a public park in perpetuity. The NGO will not be involved in developing or maintaining the park. Will this meet the intent of the credit?

Hi Kath, I think this could work but would recommend contacting GBCI directly to confirm. In addition to the info you provided here, I think summarizing how the park will provide habitat and support biodiversity will help GBCI confirm whether or not it meets the credit intent.
