My LEED project will provide a garage with preferred parking inside the building. Additionally it will provide parking spots in a garage near by that is used by other projects as well. It will use a shared parking scenario to reduce the total amount of parking forseveral buildings. The garage falls outside of my LEED project boundary since it will be serving multiple buildings. I do not know if the other projects will be going for LEED. My question relates to the 5%. What 5% apply to in my situation? The parking spaces inside my project boundary or the total number of parking spaces provided?

Hi Ernst,
The total parking count and the number you base that 5% on should reflect the number of spaces you expect your project occupants to use, in both the shared and non-shared garages. Obviously not a precise figure, and any reasonable number plus an explanation of how you got to it should be accepted. It sounds like the preferred parking will all be located in the non-shared garage because it is closer, but the number should be based on 5% of the total.
