NC-2009 EAp2:Minimum Energy Performance

Baseline Case System type - Group Building

Dear All:-

we are working in Group building approach with 5 Building and the baseline case HVAC system type is purely based on no of floor and Air Conditioning area and as per LEED NC Group Building approach each building needs to show the minimum 18% energy saving so we have following clarification in LEED Documentation and Energy Simulation

In Group approach we have model the baseline case with System 8 (Water Cooler Chiller) because of huge air conditioning area but in individual building the Air Conditioner area for 3 building is less then 1,00,000 Sq.ft so we need to go with system 6 but we have Central VAM Chiller plant for this 5 building in Design case and now we have below Questions

1.Can we model different system for Different building as per ASHRAE 90.1.2007 System selection in Group approach

2.Can we model system 8 for all the building in GROUP Approach and model with suitable system in ASHRAE 90.1 while prove the individual building minimum Energy saving

3.can we divide the design case energy consumption of Chiller in prorated basis while prove the individual building minimum Energy saving

4.Can we model system 8 for all building in Group approach and model with applicable system as per ASHRAE while prove the individual building minimum Energy saving

Are all five buildings within the same group submission? Does the central Plant serve only these 5 buildings? If the answer is yes to both then here are your answers. 1. Yes 2. No 3. We would do one model for all five buildings. The chiller plant would be included. You would meter each of the buildings separately in the model so you get the results separately for each one. If you do the buildings individually in separate models then you will need to apply the DESv2. 4. No
