ASE criteria fulfilled with automated dynamic façade

Hi,

in what regards ASE criteria (< 10% of regularly occupied area with >250 hours/year > 1000 lux), even if the 10% threshold is not fulfilled and according with LEED interpretation ID# 100002149, it is possible to demonstrate compliance if the building has automated dynamic façade systems (e.g.: interior automated window blinds or shades).

In our case, we are following this interpretation to demonstrate compliance, installing automated interior window blinds. I would like to ask if there is any LEED requirement applicable to the blinds (e.g.: minimum VLT) that shall be considered, or if we can choose any blind and it will be accepted by LEED?

Pedro, I don't know of any VLT criteria. This isn't mentioned in the reference guide at all, so I think you should go with what your lighting designer believes is an acceptable glare-control device.

I believe there is no VLT requirement for window blind in LEED. However, you can do glare analysis using DGP or other glare metrics to see different impact of VLT in your building.
