LEED turf

Chloe, please see the credit language. It specifically references turf grass.

Hi Chloe, can you provide more information on what you mean by "certified" turf? 

Chloe, it sounds like you may be getting inaccurate product information claims from a manufacturer. Products cannot be "certified" under LEED, only buildings can. I have seen this before where the manufacturer labels a product as "LEED Certified" when they really mean that they think it can contribute to a credit within the LEED rating systems.  Is there a website you can provide where you're seeing this claim?

Ok,I translated the page to English (WAY too rusty on my French to attempt it on my own), and see one bulleted item claiming "Meets LEED standards." My guess is, since they're also claiming "5 cultivars" this means that it may not be a monoculture, and if that's true, it would have qualified as vegetated area for a v2009 project. For v4 projects, however, I believe the option to have non-monoculture turf areas counted as vegetated space has been removed, regardless of how many cultures make up the turf areas. So, for v4 you can still count turf areas as open space, but it does not count towards the vegetated space calculations.

Hi! What about for LEED v4.1? 

Chelsea, I'm looking at v4.1 changes too...based on their language, and LEEDuser's additional interpretation, it appears they're re-allowing turf grass under the restriction that it must be "planted with two or more types of vegetation", more similar to the rules that were in place in v2009.

• The option to count adjacent open space, or open space in another location within a site master plan, has been removed.
