NC-v4 EQc2:Low emitting materials

factory-finished metal based furniture exception

Does anyone know if there is an exception to credit requirements for furniture only composed of factory-finished metal products? Thanks!

Anyone has encountered this question before? what if we have a storage cabinet only in factory finished metal? Thanks!

There is not an exception for furniture storage cabinets constructed with factory finished metal. While metals are inherently non-emitting, the coating or finish can emit VOCs, depending on the coating type, age, etc.  Often powder-coat materials on metal provide compliant, low-emitting finishes as any potentially VOCs present are baked out in the factory, however not all powder coat materials are the same.
