NC-v4 EQp1:Minimum indoor air quality performance

Ventilation in vestibules

Dear all,

We are working with a project located in a 3C climatic zone. Therefore, our building’s main entrances include a vestibule as mentioned in section 5.4.3.4.

Furthermore, inside the building there will also be small enclosed vestibules that separate the office areas from the bathrooms. Therefore, people will be crossing through these small rooms that work as vestibules to access the bathrooms all day.

Should these spaces require to be ventilated with a minimum outdoor air supply? Or can we just leave them without ventilation since they are merely a transition space where people will be for very short periods of time throughout the day.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Angel! Yes, vestibules are required to have ventilation even though they are transition spaces. It has to do with the definition of occupied, occupiable and non occupied spaces. I hope this helps!

Hello, could air extraction in the spaces between corridor and restrooms be acceptable? In the corridor the supplied air exceeds the required air flow rate therefore I would present that as an engineering ventilation. Best Regards

Francesco, Did you ever receive a response to your question? I am in a similar situation. Thanks!
