CI-v4 INc1:Innovation

Using WELL certification for ID strategies

We have a CI v4 project that is also pursuing WELL and Fitwel certifications. Overlapping requirements aside, is there a simply way to identify if we can use aspects from the other certifications to apply to one or more ID strategies? At this time, we're assuming that, chronologically, the Fitwel certification would be complete first, then LEED, then WELL. Can achievement of a separate rating system be a strategy in and of itself? I feel like this was an option long, long ago, but haven't heard mention of it being used in years.

If you haven't already seen the LEED/WELL "crosswalk," start there. We have an article on it here. I would start by looking at overlaps in terms of how regular credits can help you achieve other credits. Relative to innovation, I would be surprised if there is not potential there, providing you follow LEED's usual rules. I don't have specific pointers, though. Do us a favor and let us know your insights as you proceed, Emily.

Will do. We've just submitted for our design review, and hope to have those results back in the next few weeks. For now, we will have one ID strategy in the construction phase where we're taking the base building green cleaning program, which we normally would not also be able to claim as-is, but we'll be adding our additional WELL required aspects to it as additional measures that we're taking within our own space. We believe this would merit an ID point. I'll post an update when we learn more or change our approach.
