NC-2009 IEQc4.4:Low-Emitting Materials—Composite Wood and Agrifiber Products

NAUF insulation

Were'a a GC. Does insulation (board and/or batt) need to also be NAUF either under this credit or elsewhere? I'm fairly sure it doesn't for LEED NC v2009 under EQc4.4 (maybe I'm wrong.) If we want the Subs to only use a NAUF insulation, how I can enforce that through LEED? The Specs have not stated that requirement only no asbestos. I am aware about no CFC/HCFC. My question is about NAUF. Thanks, Debra

Debra, formaldehyde in insulation is not covered under this credit or any other credit in LEED-NC v2009. I appreciate the direction you want to take things but you'll need to find another avenue to get the subs on board.

Thanks Tristan, I believe that LEED v4 now prohibits formaldehyde in insulation but wasn't sure if there was any addenda or CIR under NC v2009 that changed the materials falling under formaldehyde. Unrelated, our polished concrete colorant "charcoal" color just submittal contains formaldehyde. The Mfgr says it's added aqueous not in a resin. Our project plans to do IAQ testing so I'm concerned but not sure how I can restrict that color is LEED's only looking at Charcoal's VOCs, which = 0.
